About Us

JKA Belfast

The Japan Karate Association is the most authoritative and largest karate organisation in the world. 'The Keeper of Karate's Highest Tradition'. JKA Belfast teaches traditional Shotokan Karate and utilises a standardised training methodology passed on to the student directly from Japan Karate Association HQ in Tokyo, through our Chief Instructor Noel Casey 7th Dan JKA WF.

Sensei Noel Casey is the only recognised and official representative of the Japan Karate Association in Ireland. This means that all courses and gradings are sanctioned and ratified directly by JKA HQ in Tokyo. Sensei Casey currently holds Examiner qualifications and licenses from JKA HQ to do Dan grades as well as Instructors and Referees qualifications here in Ireland. Through their unique link JKA Ireland has had the privilege of hosting both the JKA European Championships (April 2016 in Dublin) and the Funakoshi Gichin World Shotokan Championships in Limerick, in August 2017.

Our students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of Karate and to avail of the opportunities to train, grade and compete at whatever level they wish to.

Adults and kids welcome, of any ability. First 2 classes free, normal cost £4 Adult/ £3 Kids under 16.
